Work and Study Canada Program

Step UP to Work n' Study - Hospitality™ is an Academic language and cultural learning program with a
Practicum, or paid internship, that offers multiple opportunities to link classroom learning to workplace
experience in the context of hospitality.
To take part in this program you need:
* To be 19 to 30 years old
* To know English on the communicative level

* People determined to succeed in an intensive, challenging, and demanding study environment.
The Academic component is composed of language acquisition, conflict resolution, cultural competence, problem solving, teamwork, handling criticism, adaptability, motivation, and leadership skills, industry specific terminology and practices. The Practicum component, or paid Internship, is monitored, has specific learning goals, is in combination with ongoing classes, and it is an essential and integral component of the program.
For your internship in case of Silver Program you can choose any location in British Columbia. In case of Gold Program companies, where students are working, are located in some of the most beautiful settings in Western Canada and offer students access to spectacular Resort facilities, as well as a unique Canadian lifestyle experience.
During your internship you will have an opportunity to take part in different trips like trip to Rocky Mountains, Victoria, to see wales, rafting and many, many more.
General Evaluation Guidelines
Students will be graded during the Academic component on a variety of criteria, including Attendance and Participation, Written Assignments, Oral Presentations, as well as a series of Tests. During the Practicum, students will be required to attend ongoing classes and the materials submitted for evaluation of the paid internship should demonstrate not only what the student did in the internship but what they learned about communication problems, issues, and practices in case of Gold Program.
Successful Completion of the Academic and Practicum Components
Students who successfully complete all the requirements of their Academic and Practicum obligations will receive the following at the end of their Program:
1. Step UP to Work n' Study - Hospitality™ Certificate
2. Transcript and Evaluation - provided by both your Academic and Practicum supervisor
3. A Letter of Reference from your Practicum Host company on company letterhead
Visa Information
Your internship is a monitored work experience related to your academic field of study or previous work experience, and meeting specific learning goals. As per Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) guidelines, all candidates need a valid work visa (Working Holiday Visa, SWAP or Study and Work Permit (C30 Exemption) for the entire period of their internship. As with any internship program in Canada, Citizen and Immigration Canada guidelines require that your Internship not exceed a 50/50 split. Students can apply for their visa at their local Embassy of Canada.
Program Gold - 6 months
Students must successfully complete 240 hours of their in-class Academic study, prior to qualifying to participate in their Practicum component. During their Practicum, they must successfully complete 160 hours of their in-class Academic study.
English Language Training/Cultural Training (180 hours)
Hospitality Workshops: English as a Second Language-based (60 hours)
Evening Language Courses/Hospitality Workshops (160 hours)
18 weeks to complete Paid Hospitality Internship.
Program Gold - 12 months
Students must successfully complete 480 hours of their in-class Academic study, prior to qualifying to participate in their Practicum component. During their Practicum, they must successfully complete 380 hours of their in-class Academic study.

Hospitality Workshops: English as a Second Language-based (120 hours)
Evening Language Courses/Hospitality Workshops (380 hours)
38 weeks to complete Paid Hospitality Internship
